Chapter 2

Echoes Beneath the Moonlight

Previous Chapter List
Moonlight filtered through the dense canopy, painting silver patterns upon the forest floor as Kaelen followed the guardian deeper into the heart of Eldoria. Each step seemed to resonate with the unspoken magic that saturated the air, a hum that vibrated at the edge of hearing. "Why reveal yourself now?" Kaelen demanded, his voice barely above a whisper. "Because the time has come," she replied, her gaze fixed ahead. "The crown awakens, and with it, the past and future collide." They arrived at the edge of a glimmering lake, its surface smooth like glass, reflecting the stars above. At the center, on a pedestal carved from crystal, rested a circlet that shimmered faintly, pulsing with an ancient light. "That is the Moonlit Crown," the guardian said softly. "Forged by the Elders in a time when magic was pure. It holds the power to unite realms—or to shatter them." Kaelen reached out tentatively, but the moment his fingers brushed the cool metal, a surge of visions flooded his mind: battles waged under crimson skies, kingdoms rising and falling, and a shadow creeping steadily inward. He gasped, stumbling back as the guardian steadied him. "The crown shows you what is to come," she explained. "But also what was lost. You must choose your path carefully." A sudden crash echoed across the lake’s edge as twisted figures emerged from the darkness—hunters of the void, sent by the usurper king intent on seizing the crown’s power. "They're here," Kaelen whispered, drawing his dagger with trembling hands. "We cannot let them take it." The guardian nodded, raising her hands as ancient runes ignited in the air. "Then we stand together, beneath the moonlight." As the first arrow whistled through the night, Kaelen realized that everything he believed was about to be rewritten—starting with the fate of the crown and the kingdom it promised to save.
